This year, Bašta Fest is participating in the selection of the Best of ten programme of the international short film festival Short Waves in Poznan. This selection was created on the occasion of the tenth anniversary edition of the Short Waves Festival and it brings together the ten most interesting short film festivals in Europe in one place.

Short Waves is an international short film festival that will take place in Poznan from 20 March to 25 March, 2018. It is the most significant short film festival in Poland, featuring, in addition to five different film selections, a developed programme of workshops for film professionals as well as a famous co-production forum European Short Pitch.

The jury that will choose the best film from the Best of ten selection consists of film selectors coming as representatives of major festivals such as Berlinale, Venice Biennale, the International Festival in Shanghai…

Bašta Fest has been included in this category and will be presented with the winning film from last year’s edition of the festival – the film Prima Noapte (First Night) by Romanian director Andrei Tanase. This year’s event will be attended by Artistic Director Maja Susa, as the representative of the Bašta Fest.

“I feel this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other festivals, and it is extremely important that Bašta Fest is making more and more appearances outside the borders of our country and region. We are proud to be chosen as part of this selection and I believe that this is an opportunity for further growth and development of Bašta Fest,” Maja Šuša stated.
