The tenth Bašta Fest was opened by actress Milena Radulović.
Closing film: “Have you seen this woman?” (dir. Dušan Zorić and Matija Gluščević, Serbia, Croatia).

PROGRAMMER

Programmer of the competition programme of the tenth Bašta Fest: Maja Šuša (actress, Artistic director of the festival).

AWARDS

The jury consisted of Lana Barić, actress and director, Radivoje Raša Andrić, director and Ricard Balada, an actor awarded the following awards:
Golden Imagination (best film as a whole): the film “Handstand” (dir. Ovsanna Shekoyan, Armenia).
Jury explanation: For excellence in every aspect of the film work, a painful, but subtle story told in layers, with unique atmosphere, great direction, excellent camerawork, and acting.

Golden Interpretation (the best female role): Milica Janevski for the role of Ljiljana in the film “In Shoulders” (dir. Tara Gajović, Serbia)
Jury explanation: Because of the incredible transformation into a middle-aged woman and mother for whom the bar is a second home.
Golden Interpretation (the best male role): Oscar Petersen for the role of the Officer in the film “Bergie”, (dir. Dian Weys, South Africa).
Jury explanation: For the masterly subtle nuance of the inner tension and struggle between humanity in oneself and respect for the law.

Special awards:

In a twisted world full of disasters, wars, and terrorism, a mass murderer fits perfectly. For a special approach to the mother-son relationship, which humorously portrays maternal love, and when that love goes against life, a Special award was given to the film “Mama”, directed by Miguel Azurmendi Gómez from Spain.

Due to the smart, witty, and ironic portrayal of the character of the Balkan man, which can be read through a relaxed attitude towards death and the subtle portrayal of hidden emotions that emerge despite defense mechanisms, a Special award was given to the film “Funeral”, directed by Šimun Šitum from Croatia.

The jury, consisting of Miloš Jaćimović, awarded the prize:
Golden visualization (the best camera) to director of photography Miloš Radovanović for the film “In Shoulders” (dir. Tara Gajović, Serbia).
Jury explanation: This year’s jubilee edition of Bašta Fest was marked by a large number of films with a high level of aestheticization and superb visual expression. As only one award must be given, this year I am supporting a film by young people, leaning on the traditions of the Black and Romanian new wave, which stood out for its visual literacy and sense of rhythm.
This award was established and awarded for the first time in 2016 with the support of Cineplanet Rental.

The youth jury consisting of: Đorđe Petrović, Andrija Žuža, Anika Petrović, Dubravka Stefanović and
Sonja Jovanović awarded the prize:

Youth Jury Award (the best film): “Fast Life” (dir. Paul Rigoux, France).
Because of the criticism of life and the times in which we find ourselves, it does not allow us to rest or to stop and think. A film that talks about the moderation and balance that each of us needs to find in ourselves to survive and also in a small way represents the everyday life of our generation, the award was given to the film “Fast Life”, directed by Paul Rigoux from France.

Bašta Fest awarded:
Bašta honour – to the Tribalion organization, for an example of a good initiative in sports and tourism,
as well as for a well-thought-out and well-organized event with great potential for the future.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

Mentor Nađa Petrović worked with the Youth Jury, which consisted of five high school students from Bajina Bašta, discussed the films and helped them make their decision about the best film.
