This year’s Bašta Fest will feature the sixth Bašta Pitch, a workshop designed for young filmmakers and producers to present their short feature film projects. This is the first step in preparing them for further presentations, which they will encounter throughout their career in the film financing process.
Five projects were selected from the submitted projects from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia. Directors and producers will go through preparation for the final pitch (presentation) in four days of work with mentors. On the last day of the festival, a three-member jury will decide on the winner, and the main cash prize is intended for continuing work on that project.
Ten participants will work with mentors: producer Milan Stojanović, producer Martina Krivokapić, and director Rasko Miljković. This year’s jury that will choose the winner of Bašta Pitch consists of director Mina Đukić, producer Zoran Galić, as well as the artistic director of the festival, Maja Šuša. The winner of the Bašta Pitch receives a cash prize of 1,000 e, financed by the Film Center of Serbia.

As part of the Bašta Pitch, after the final presentation of the projects, on July 6th, at the cinema “Vlaja” from 3PM is a panel discussion “In the frame, gently“, where the first coordinators of intimacy in the Balkans will be presented. Kristina Marković, producer, Anđela Rajić Novaković, actress and psychologist and Maša Nešković, director will talk about the profession of intimacy coordinators who create a new scene of responsibility. The panel discussion will be moderated by Maja Šuša.

After that, from 4:30 p.m., there will be a masterclass by our partner from Bosnia and Herzegovina, producer Zoran Galić, who will talk about Alternative sources of funding for film projects. Alternative sources of funding in the film industry are becoming crucial for realizing creative ideas and preserving artistic independence. Along with traditional public funds and television companies, authors in the Balkans are increasingly exploring innovative approaches, such as crowdfunding, branded content, private investors, blockchain technologies, and NFT markets. Financing models through non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that support film projects with social and/or humanitarian aspects play an increasingly important role.
