Bašta Fest continues the old tradition – as part of the non-competitive program, we close the festival with a feature film that (in the opinion of the Bašta team) marked the past year. At this year’s festival on July 6, after the award ceremony, at our open-air in the “Borići” park, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the film “78 days” directed by Emilija Gasic, who will close the festival after the screening. This film was a success after the world premiere in Rotterdam. At festivals around the world, it received many awards for Best Film, Best Debut Film, Best Editing, and Best Direction. At last year’s festival in Palić, it received the jury award for Best Film and Audience Award.
On this occasion, the director Emilija Gašić shared with us: “I have had the opportunity to hear very nice things about Bašta Fest from all sides for many years. I am glad that this year we are closing the festival, so I can come and feel the magic that I know from the story. I like that the festival was born from the desire to bring cultural content to other parts of Serbia and that it is dedicated to young people, so it includes high school students in its work. My first feature film was created for very similar reasons – “78 days”, which closes the festival. We filmed it in my grandmother’s and grandfather’s house. From the beginning of the film to the premiere day, the film follows generosity and love. From the neighbors who shared their fields, through the members of our families who made bridges, watermill toys, and shared clothes for costumes, and their memories from the nineties. Birds of a feather flock together, so here we are at Bašta Fest!“

Cast: Jelena Đokić, Goran Bogdan, Pavle Čemerikić, Viktorija Vasiljević, Tamara Gajović, Milica Gicić, Maša Ćirović.
Synopsis: Two teenage sisters record their daily lives on a home camera, overwriting older recordings that periodically appear on tape. Their father is soon mobilized. Before he leaves, he asks them to film something nice for him. Days go by, they film nature, the night sky during bombing raids, and tease Tijana, their youngest sister. Things change when a mysterious boy and his shy baby sister arrive from Belgrade and move into the first neighbor’s house. New friendships, first kisses, and first disappointments take over the fear of bombs.
