For the past 13 years, Bašta Fest has been held at the same time of year and in the same location. We announce the festival dates at least six months in advance, often even during the previous edition of the festival.

Less than 24 hours before this year’s opening, reconstruction works for the upcoming MOSI Games are scheduled to begin at Borići Park the home of Bašta Fest’s open-air cinema and the festival’s iconic central venue, despite the fact that we hold a valid permit issued by the Municipal Administration authorizing the festival to take place at this location.

At no point during the preparation process were we informed that the venue would become unavailable. Had we been notified in time, we would have been able to secure an alternative location that met all the necessary technical, logistical, and legal requirements.

As a result, we have been forced to relocate the Competition Programme to Vlaja Cinema. All other festival programmes will take place at the venues originally announced.

This unexpected challenge will not discourage us- quite the opposite. We look forward to welcoming you, to celebrate the cinema, community and to knock on the woods in hope for brighter days ahead!
