The international short fiction film festival Bašta Fest will be held for the thirteenth time in Bajina Bašta, from July 2 to 5 this year, under the slogan “Knock on Wood.”

Playing with the symbolism of the number 13 and facing challenges head-on, the organizers of Bašta Fest announce that after last year’s autumn edition of the festival, it is now returning to its traditional dates and to everyone’s favorite activity of watching films outdoors in Borići Park.
“This makes us extremely happy, considering that we always associate this festival with the beginning of summer, outdoor programs, and meeting in nature in the beautiful surroundings of Tara Mountain, Zaovine and Perućac Lakes, and the Drina River,” announced the festival founders Jovan Jelisavčić and Maja Šuša.
“Well, the thirteenth edition is happening in a very unfavorable and difficult year for culture and film in our country, and that is why, with the slogan Knock on Wood, we are tapping on our pine trees for luck and wiser decisions,” they added.
The author of the visual identity of this year’s Bašta Fest is Milica Milosavljević. Apart from the humorous play on superstition, the slogan ‘Knock on wood’ also points to the ecological aspect of Bašta Fest. With the desire that the festival’s green practices and responsible attitude toward nature accompany the bold and daring cinematic language for which Bašta Fest is recognized, this year’s edition of the festival will take a few steps further and explore different ways in which film and other festivals can support the natural environment in which
they take place.
Bašta Fest will once again gather numerous visitors, bringing them closer to the incredible nature of Bajina Bašta and its region. In addition, the festival continues its mission of decentralizing cultural content, considering the range of programs that over the years have brought thousands of film lovers to Western Serbia.
But above all, Bašta Fest, in its thirteenth edition, remains a cultural oasis that opens doors to young domestic and international authors, putting emphasis on short films with authentic acting performances.
